The Central Coast Council Waterways Education Team is dedicated to protecting and restoring the health of our region’s waterways. Through science-based strategies, community engagement, and nature-based solutions, we work to ensure clean, resilient aquatic environments for generations to come. Our team collaborates across council departments and with local communities to monitor water quality, implement sustainable practices, and raise awareness about the importance of healthy waterways.

At the Sustainable Future Festival, we’re proud to showcase our efforts and invite the public to learn more about how they can contribute to a thriving coastal ecosystem. Whether through citizen science, stormwater management, or habitat restoration, we believe everyone has a role to play in shaping a sustainable future.

How do you align with the festival goals?

Our stall directly supports the sustainability goals of the Sustainable Future Festival by promoting community education and action around waterway health. Through interactive experiences and practical demonstrations, we empower attendees to understand the science behind water quality, the impact of urban runoff, and the benefits of nature-based solutions. By showcasing council-led initiatives and inviting public participation, we foster a shared responsibility for environmental stewardship and encourage sustainable behaviours that contribute to long-term ecosystem resilience.
