I’m Ben MacAndrew, and using my degree in Environmental Science and Management, I’ve supervised a wide range of ecosystem restoration and revegetation projects throughout the Central Coast. My passion for sustainable living has led me to work closely with local community groups and schools, helping provide and maintain community garden spaces, create native bee habitats, and empower people to live more harmoniously with our natural world.

What are you offering at the festival?

I’ll be running a hands-on workshop where you can build your own native bee hotel and learn how to support these amazing little pollinators at home. With my background in Environmental Science and Management, I’ve spent years working on ecosystem restoration projects and helping communities create sustainable garden spaces. At the festival, I’m excited to share simple, practical ways to attract native bees, boost biodiversity, and live more in harmony with the natural world — all while having a bit of fun along the way!

does it cost any money?

It’s completely free to join in — just stop by the stall and have a go at making your own bee hotel!

How do you align with the festival goals?

Workshops promote repurposing of everyday household and building waste like food cans and pvc pipe as native bee hotels for the ongoing benefit of creating habitat for native pollinators. Environmental education aims to empower community with knowledge and skills to live more harmoniously with nature and practice ecologically sustainable activities on a local scale.
