Wegener Tool Co.
Tom Wegener is a passionate surfboard shaper, surfer, filmmaker and has a PhD in Surf Culture from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Tom has spent over four decades following his love of the ocean and pushing the boundaries of what a surfboard can be. Tom is the man behind the modern revival of the ancient Hawaiian alaia surfboard and builds surfboards from recycled materials including paulownia wood, cork and foam. His green surfboard factory in the Noosa hinterland produces virtually zero waste, proving that making beautiful things and caring for the planet go hand in hand. A champion of sustainable surf culture, Tom was named Surfing Magazine's Shaper of the Year in 2009. Tom's workshop will have you looking at old, discarded surfboards in a whole new light — not as rubbish, but as the beginning of something wonderful!
