Every year during the Christmas holidays, about 150,000 km of wrapping is used. This is enough to wrap around the earth four times. The majority of wrapping paper cannot be recycled so it ends up in landfill. Furoshiki is the Japanese art of wrapping gifts in cloth/fabric that gets reused repeatedly. Our workshop is teaching people the art of furoshiki to shift the gift-wrapping culture to reusable fabric to reduce wrapping paper waste to landfill.
