Ausgrid

Ausgrid owns and operates the electricity network that powers eastern Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. We supply around 1.8 million customers, and we are getting the network ready for a cleaner, more flexible energy future. We do that alongside the communities we serve. One example is the Community Power Network, a five-year trial that uses shared community batteries to store local solar and share the benefits with the neighbourhood.

What are you Offering at the Festival?

The way we power our lives is changing. Come and see how.

Solar panels, batteries and electric cars are becoming part of everyday life on the Central Coast. At our stall, you can find out how they connect to the network and what they could mean for your street.

Explore our community batteries and EV charging work. Meet the Community Power Network, a five-year Ausgrid trial that shares the benefits of local solar with the whole neighbourhood, including renters and people without panels.

Does it cost any money?

No - information stall only

How do you align with the festival's goals?

A sustainable future runs through the electricity network. More households are adding solar, batteries and electric vehicles, and our job is to make sure the network can support them safely and fairly.

Community batteries store local solar so more of it gets used close to home. EV charging helps people switch to cleaner transport with confidence. Both work best when the benefits reach everyone, including renters and people in apartments.

The Community Power Network is where we are testing that. This five-year trial uses shared batteries to store local solar and share the benefits across the neighbourhood.

At the festival, we will explain how these technologies connect to the grid and how people can make informed choices about their own energy use. We will also listen. What we hear from locals helps shape how we plan and deliver our work on the Central Coast.
