House of Tierney
#houseoftierney
I'm Katherine Tierney, owner of House of Tierney. I am a woodworker and sustainability educator. I create products made from recycled timber saved from landfill and bring sustainable woodworking incursions to childcare centres on the NSW Central Coast.
What are you offering at the festival?
Sustainable woodworking workshop
We will be creating bird feeders from recycled timber using real tools. Suitable for ages 3 and up.
Upcycled planter workshop
Create a mini planter out of a used tin can and plant some seeds
Eco poster painting
Get creative painting our eco posters and remember to reduce, reuse and recycle!
DOES IT COST ANY MONEY?
All workshops are completely free to attend — just come along, get creative, and join in the fun!
How do you align with the festival goals?
All my retail products are made from salvaged timber saved from landfill. I aim to use recycled building materials where possible. My incursions are all about reducing waste and getting creative with preschoolers about using the materials we have. I teach basic woodworking skills to give children the confidence to create and repair using what we have rather than buying new.
