Closed Loop Environmental Solutions is an Australian company driving the shift to a circular economy through practical, measurable sustainability solutions. For over 20 years, it has partnered with major events, councils, venues and brands to design and deliver waste systems focused on resource recovery and landfill diversion. From strategy and reporting to on-site services, Closed Loop provides end-to-end solutions that make sustainability visible and achievable.

The company created Simply Cups and supports Bettercup and PAK-PAVE Roads, turning waste into new products and infrastructure. With education, collaboration and innovation at its core, Closed Loop helps clients reduce waste, engage communities and lead in sustainability - guided by the belief that waste is simply a resource in the wrong place.

What are you offering at the festival?

Discover how your takeaway cup can have a second life with Simply Cups, Australia’s leading cup recycling program. Our stall will show how cups are collected, recycled and transformed into new products like benches, roads and building materials. Visitors can learn where Simply Cups operates, why it matters, and how small changes can make a big impact. Kids can join in with a fun, hands-on recycling game that teaches how to sort cups and understand the journey from waste to resource. Stop by to explore real examples of recycled products, take part in our educational activities and see how together we can close the loop—one cup at a time.

We’re excited to be onsite at the Festival, managing all waste operations throughout the event. Our team will be carefully monitoring and sorting all waste streams by hand to ensure that as much material as possible is diverted from landfill. By taking a hands-on approach to recycling and composting, we’re helping to make the festival a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable experience for everyone attending.

Does it cost any money?

Engaging with us is completely free! Festivalgoers can learn about recycling, composting, and sustainability, and ask questions or explore our interactive activities at no cost. We’re here to make the festival a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable experience for everyone.

How do you align with the festival goals?

1. Circular economy in action

The festival pledges to “honour and protect our planet” and to “keep our resources circulating”. Simply Cups embodies this by turning used takeaway cups into high-value secondary products.

2. Waste reduction and better practices

The festival’s zero-waste approach, as shown by banning single-use plastics and installing refill stations - reflects what Simply Cups aims for: diverting waste, closing material loops, and engaging people in responsible choices.

3. Education and community empowerment

A core festival objective is to inspire individuals and communities to adopt sustainable behaviours. Simply Cups delivers on this by offering transparent education about how everyday items become resources, and by engaging visitors (especially kids) with interactive learning.

4. Local, visible impact

The festival highlights local makers and sustainable legends, offering purchases that support community-based change. Simply Cups complements this by working across venues/events locally - and turning local waste streams into visible new products (benches, boards, roads)- so festival-goers can see the material path. In short: Offering a Simply Cups stall at the festival means you’re not just talking about sustainability—you’re showing it. You’ll fit perfectly with the festival’s ethos of “celebrating together in a way that honours and protects our planet”
